Zoloft Information

Zoloft Uses?
Zoloft is most commonly used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Zoloft may also be used for purposes other than those listed here.

Zoloft Directions?
Always follow your doctor's orders when taking Zoloft. Take each Zoloft dose with a full glass of water. It can be taken either with or without food. Take your pills at the same time each day. Most people must take Zoloft for a few weeks before they notice any change in how they feel. Your doctor will gradually lower dosage when you are ready to stop taking Zoloft. This will help you avoid unpleasant side effects.

Zoloft Side Effects?

You may experience serious side effects with Zoloft. Seek emergency medical care if you have high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision); an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives); an irregular heartbeat or pulse; low blood pressure (dizziness, weakness); chills or fever; unusual bleeding or bruising; a rash or hives. Some less severe side effects may also occur, such as headache, tremor, nervousness, or anxiety; difficulty concentrating; nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, or changes in appetite or weight. Check with your doctor if any of them are especially bothersome. You may experience side effects not listed here.

Zoloft Warnings?

You should not stop taking Zoloft without talking to your doctor. You may need to take Zoloft for up to four weeks before you feel the full benefit of the medication. Stopping suddenly may cause negative side effects. You should not share your medication with anyone.

Zoloft Drug Interactions?
Those who have used a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as phenelzine (Nardil), isocarboxazid (Marplan), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) within the previous fourteen days, should never take Zoloft since fatal reactions may occur. Serious problems can also occur if you take Zoloft in addition to pimozide (Orap). Drug interactions are possible with many other products as well, so for your safety, it's critical that your doctor knows about all other prescriptions and nonprescription products that you are using. If you are using disulfiram (Antabuse), you can not take the oral concentrate version of Zoloft. It has alcohol in it, which interferes with disulfiram (Antabuse). Check with your pharmacist or doctor before beginning any new medications.

Zoloft Missed Dose?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next regularly scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and take the next one as directed. Do not take a double dose of Zoloft unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

Zoloft Storage?
Zoloft should not be exposed to sunlight or moisture. Make sure it's not accessible to children.
