Zanaflex Side Effects?
Patients taking Zanaflex report a low occurrence of side effects, including
unusual weakness, drowsiness, nausea, constipation, dizziness, or dry mouth.
If you are dizzy while taking Zanaflex, be careful when getting up after
sitting or lying down. Side effects that you should discuss with your doctor
include vomiting, hallucinations, yellowing skin or eyes, or stomach pain.
Other side effects include vision or hearing changes, urinary frequency
or burning, slow or irregular heartbeat, or black stool. These include Allergic
reactions to Zanaflex are unusual but possible, and include symptoms such
as itching, dizziness, rash, swelling, or trouble breathing. If you experience
any side effects other than those listed here, talk to your doctor.
Zanaflex Warnings?
Don't take Zanaflex if you have a family history of liver or heart disease,
kidney disease, low blood pressure, eye disease, or any allergies. Use alcohol
only minimally while taking Zanaflex, since it can cause more severe effects
of drowsiness or dizziness. Do not do anything, which requires mental focus
such as driving or operating heavy machinery while taking Zanaflex. Pregnant
women should not take Zanaflex unless they have discussed the risks with
their doctor. Nursing women should not take Zanaflex because it is not known
if Zanaflex is excreted in breast milk.
Zanaflex Drug Interactions?
Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you
may take, especially of: blood pressure drugs (e.g., water pills, clonidine,
methyldopa, guanabenz, guanfacine), MAO inhibitors (e.g., linezolid, furazolidone,
phenelzine, selegiline), sleep medicines, sedatives (e.g., diazepam), tranquilizers,
anti-anxiety drugs, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine, morphine), barbiturates
(e.g., phenobarbital), certain antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine), other
muscle relaxants (e.g., cyclobenzaprine), certain antidepressants (e.g.,
imipramine, amitriptyline, trazodone), phenothiazine psychiatric drugs (e.g.,
chlorpromazine), birth control pills. Do not start or stop any medicine
without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Zanaflex Missed Dose?
Never double up if you realize you have missed a regularly scheduled dose.
Instead, just take it as soon as possible after you realize you missed it.
If you are scheduled to take your next dose soon, then skip the dose altogether
and follow the prescribed dosing schedule as normal.
Zanaflex Storage?
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C)
away from light and moisture.

Zanaflex is a muscle relaxant that blocks nerve impulses on their way to
the brain. Zanaflex is usually used to treat increased muscle tone associated
with spasticity.
