Vaniqa Information

Vaniqa Cream Uses?
Vaniqa (pronounced "VAN-i-ka") is a women's prescription that
is intended to slow the growth of unwanted facial hair (UFH). The medication
does not prevent the growth of new hair, nor does it permanently remove
existing facial hair. It works by breaking down an enzyme in the hair follicle
required for the growth of hair, and as a result, the hair grows more slowly.
You will need to continue using whatever hair removal technique you are
currently using. However, Vaniqa will help you look and feel better, and
keep your hair growth more manageable.
Vaniqa Cream Directions?
Gently rub a small amount of Vaniqa into the skin in areas where you have
unwanted hair, and do not wash the area for at least four hours after
application. Follow the medication instructions carefully.
Vaniqa is used two times per day, at least eight hours apart. Follow
your doctor's instructions. Vaniqa is for external treatments only.
Until Vaniqa takes full effect, you should continue your normal hair
removal routine. After it begins working, you will notice you spend less
time in hair removal, and have to do it less often.
It's okay to continue using your regular cosmetics while treating your
skin with Vaniqa. However, you should allow a lot of time for the medication
to be fully absorbed before applying any cosmetics over it.
Vaniqa Cream Side Effects?
Skin irritation sometimes occurs when you begin using Vaniqa, such as
minor burning, stinging, or redness. You can expect these side effects
to fade within a few weeks of beginning therapy, but if it does not, stop
using the prescription and speak to your dermatologist. Protect the sensitive
skin of your mouth, nose, and eyes from contact with Vaniqa, and rinse
well if it does occur.
Vaniqa Cream Warnings?
Vaniqa is for any woman and any skin type that has unwanted facial hair,
especially that found around the lips and under the chin. Active ingredients
include ceteareth-20, cetearyl alcohol, dimethicone, glyceryl stearate,
methylparaben, mineral oil, PEG-bO stearate, phenoxyethanol, propylparaben,
stearyl alcohol and water. Let your doctor know if you have an allergic
reaction to any of these ingredients. Those under 12 years old should
not use Vaniqa.
Talk to your doctor before using Vaniqa if you are pregnant or are planning
to become pregnant. Studies do not exist on its use during pregnancy.
Studies are inconclusive about whether Vaniqa is present in
breast milk, so talk to your doctor before beginning Vaniqa therapy if
you are breastfeeding.
Vaniqa Cream Drug Interactions?
No drug interactions have been reported for Vaniqa. You should, however,
make sure your dermatologist is aware of all medication and over the counter
products you are taking, as well as any facial products that you regularly
use.
Vaniqa Cream Missed Dose?
If you forget or miss a dose of Vaniqa do not try to "make it up".
Return to your normal application schedule as soon as you can.
Vaniqa Cream Storage?
Vaniqa should stay at room temperature and never be frozen. Room temperature
is between 59 and 86 degrees F, or 15 and 30 degrees C.
Anything Else I Should Know About Vaniqa Cream?
Vaniqa cream is the only prescription proven to slow the growth of women's
unwanted facial hair. The medication does not remove hair or prevent the
growth of new hair, so you will still need to use your usual hair removal
routine. However, you will gradually have to remove less hair and be able
to do so less frequently. Use this product only on external areas.
Vaniqa will only cause gradual changes. You will not see instant results,
so be patient. You can expect to see results in approximately four to
eight weeks. It does take longer for some women.
If, after six months of regular use, you don't see any improvement, quit
using Vaniqa. Your facial hair follicles will return to their regular
condition in around eight weeks.
Store Vaniqa out of reach of children. Don't give Vaniqa to anyone, or
allow them to use your medication.
