Renova Information
|
Renova Directions?
Renova is used to improve the appearance of the skin by reducing
fine lines and wrinkles, reducing roughness and improving color. It can
also be used to treat acne. Is the only prescription cream proven to reduce
certain clinical signs of photo damage associated with chronic sun exposure
and the natural aging process, when used as part of a total skin care and
sun protection program.
Renova is for use on the face as directed, usually once a day
at bedtime. Apply a pea-size amount of cream to clean, dry skin on the
face being careful to avoid the eyes, nostrils and mouth. Cover affected
area lightly. Wash hands after use. Do not use this more often than prescribed
or in large amounts. It will not give your faster or better results but
will increase the risk of side effects.
Renova Side Effects?
You may experience mild redness or stinging, itching, burning, skin scaling,
peeling and dry skin the first several weeks as your body adjusts to the
medication. If any of these effects continue or become severe, discontinue
use and notify your doctor.
Do not use on sunburn or eczema or other serious skin conditions. Effects
of Renova will be gradual with most improvement seen in the first
6 months of continued therapy. If used for acne the condition may worsen
at first, and then improve.
Renova Warnings?
If you are considering Renova, talk to your doctor about any skin conditions
or allergies you may have. Renova is known to make your skin much more
sensitive to sunlight.
While using Renova, you should limit your exposure to sun and sun lamps.
Always wear sunscreen when outside and wear protective clothing when possible.
Talk to your doctor before using Renova if you are pregnant or are planning
to become pregnant. Studies are inconclusive about whether Renova
is present in breast milk, so talk to your doctor before beginning Renova
therapy if you are breastfeeding.
Renova Drug Interactions?
Your dermatologist needs to know about all medications you are using before
you begin using Renova. Renova can not be used with anything containing
isoRetin-A, amiodarone, tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics, sulfa drugs
or phenothiazines. These products also make your skin more sensitive to
sunlight.
Any other skin product that dries skin should not be used in conjunction
with Renova. Do not use any soap or cleanser, or any other facial product,
containing Benzoyl peroxide or minoxidil, or drying ingredients such as
alcohol.
Renova Missed Dose?
Do not apply Renova more than one time a day. If you miss a treatment,
apply it as soon as you remember, but return to your regular time the
next day. Never double dose.
Renova Storage?
Store Renova between 59 and 86 degrees (15-25 degrees Celsius). Make sure
the cream does not freeze. Keep all medications out of the reach of children.
Anything Else I Should Know About Renova?
You should not think of Renova as a cosmetic. The prescription is to be
used as part of a comprehensive skin care program, including complete
sun avoidance. Make certain to always wear sun block when using Renova.
