Bupropion Information
|
Bupropion Uses?
Bupropion is an antidepressant used to treat depression. It may also
be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Bupropion Directions?
Follow the instructions carefully when using Bupropion. If you have questions
about any of the directions you received, talk to your doctor or pharmacist
for a better explanation. You should drink a full glass of water with each
dose. Bupropion can be taken with or without food. You should not crush,
chew, or break the extended release tablets. Swallow the whole tablet at
once because they are formulated specifically to be released slowly in your
body. If you are not sure about the type of medication you are using, ask
your doctor.
Bupropion Side Effects?
Bupropion does not usually cause side effects. However, if you experience
any serious side effects, stop taking Bupropion and get immediate medical
attention. Possible side effects include seizures; fast or irregular heartbeats;
or allergic symptoms, including difficulty breathing, closing of the throat,
swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives.
Bupropion Warnings?
Do not combine alcohol and Bupropion. The two together can trigger a seizure.
Those who regularly consume a lot of alcohol should speak to their doctor
about their alcohol consumption, since stopping suddenly may also lead to
seizures. If you have to drive or operate heavy machinery, be careful. Bupropion
can make you feel drowsy or dizzy. Do not do anything that is potentially
dangerous until you know how you will feel when using Bupropion. People
usually feel dizzy when getting up from sitting or lying, so get up slowly
to make sure you don't fall.
Bupropion Drug Interactions?
Do not take Bupropion if you have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI)
such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), or tranylcypromine
(Parnate) in the last 14 days.
Bupropion Missed Dose?
If you miss a Bupropion dose, skip it, but return to your regular dosing
after that. Never double your doses.
Bupropion Storage?
Keep Bupropion out of sunlight and away from moisture. Make sure the medication
is out of reach of children.
Anything Else I Should Know About Bupropion?
If you are planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor before using
Bupropion. It falls into the FDA pregnancy category B, so it is not believed
to harm unborn infants.
